What is happening?
Notice of Council Tax Increase
Long Term Empty Property and Second Home Premium
The Government’s Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill announced in May 2022 will give Councils the powers under the Local Government Finance Act 1992 to:
Introduce a premium on second homes of up to a maximum of 100% under Section 11C
Reduce the period for the empty homes premium from 2 years to one year under Section 11B. This will result in a 200% premium being applied to empty properties that have been empty and unfurnished for over 12 months.
Providing the bill has received Royal Assent by 1st April 2023, High Peak Borough Council will implement the above changes on 1st April 2024.
