Peterhead Solar Farm & Battery Storage Facility Project
Notice of Pre-Application Consultation
Dates: 20th February 2023 – 23rd March 2023
PROPOSAL: c.75 megawatt (MW) solar PV farm and c.50 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), with associated infrastructure including photovoltaic panels, mounting frames, inverters, transformers, substations, fencing, pole-mounted security cameras and associated site access.
LOCATION: The site is located on lands to the west of Main Street, Springfield and east of the Bow of Fife to Pitlessie Road, with Rankeilour House lying to the north and the railway line to the south
Elgin Energy intend submitting an application to the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit (ECU), in respect of the above proposal.
A dedicated project website has been created to share information and to facilitate online feedback and comments via a digital questionnaire. The project website can be accessed at:

In addition to the preceding initiative a community consultation open day will be held on Thursday 2nd March 2023 at Springfield Parish Church (Manse Rd, Springfield, KY15 5RY) between 3:00pm – 8pm, during which team members and project specialists will be available to discuss the project. All comments or feedback should be received on or before 23rd March 2023 after which the online feedback facility will close.
