Manchester Airport - Runway Closures for Devised a Programme of Works

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Each year maintenance works are required to maintain Runway 1, the most used runway, and its’ adjoining taxiways. We have devised a programme of works and identified closure nights through the year; listed below.

We have planned work in a similar way for the last few years and community feedback has been positive to such advance warning.

2023 Runway 1 Closure Dates

Runway 2 will be used as the sole runway between 2230 and 0600 hours on the following dates:

Jan 10th, 11th, 12th*
Feb 7th, 8th, 9th
Mar 7th, 8th, 9th
Apr 2nd – 7th **
May 2nd, 3rd, 4th
Jun 6th, 7th, 8th
Jul 4th, 5th, 6th
Aug 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Sep 5th, 6th, 7th
Oct 1st – 6th **
Nov 7th, 8th, 9th
Dec 5th, 6th, 7th

*Amended dates **5-night Closure

As of 1st October 2022 Runway 2 operating hours will be reduced for Winter season (1st October 2022 - 31st March 2023*) as follows: 
Mon-Fri: 0630-1030 and 1600-2000 | Sat: 0630-1030 | Sun: 1600-2000

*Subject to operational demand

The dates above include ‘weather contingency’ and some redundancy; it is unlikely that all the nights will be required. In the event of bad weather/low visibility or that no works are required; the works may be deferred or cancelled and Runway 1 reinstated.

Normal operations will resume at all other times. These changes are permitted within the terms of the Runway 1 Planning Permission
