What is proposed?

Notice of application for the grant of a Premises Licence under Section 17 of the Licensing Act 2003

Notice is hereby given that Exeter Cathedral Enterprises Limited has applied to Exeter City Council for the grant of a Premises Licence in respect of Premises known as Exeter Cathedral, 1 The Cloisters, Exeter, EX1 1HS.

The proposed licensable activities and their hours are the sale of alcohol for consumption on and off the premises, the showing of films, the performance of plays, playing live music & recorded music from 09:00 to midnight every day inside the Cathedral buildings and from 10:00 – 22:00 on the Cathedral Green and Cloisters every day for the Christmas Market period and on up to 20 other days per year; and the provision of late night refreshment inside the Cathedral buildings from 2300 to midnight every day.

The premises to be open to the public 24 hours a day. Any representations regarding the above-mentioned application must be received in writing by The Licensing Department, Exeter City Council, Civic Centre, Paris Street, Exeter, EX1 1RQ or by email to licensing.team@exeter.gov.uk no later than 25th September 2026 stating the grounds for representation.

The register of Exeter City Council and the record of the application may be inspected at the address of the council, given above, by prior appointment on Monday to Friday between 9am to 4pm or on the council’s website - www.exeter.gov.uk

It is an offence knowingly or recklessly to make a false statement in connection with an application. A person is liable to an unlimited fine on conviction should such a false statement be made.
