What is proposed?
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A VARIATION OF A PREMISES LICENCE
Notice is hereby given that We, Hickory’s (ROS) Limited have applied to Vale of White Horse District Council on 21st May 2026 for a variation to a premises licence to use the premises at: Hickory’s Smokehouse (formerly the Bystander), Besselsleigh Road, Wootton, Abingdon, OX13 6DN. The application is to vary the: Licensing layout plan for conversion of existing trade area to a Hickory’s Smokehouse. For further details, please view the proposed licensing plan. Hours for sale by retail of alcohol from 09:00 daily – no changes to terminal hour. To add exhibition of films Monday to Sunday 09:00 to 23:00 - Non-standard timings: Opening hours and all licensable activities shall be authorised for an additional hour on the following days: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Spring and August Bank Holidays, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, the day preceding a bank holiday, St. George's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and any other publicly declared holiday. To remove Annex 2 Conditions (10) Children shall be accompanied by a responsible adult and (11) No children are permitted on the premises after 22:00; replace with ‘Children under the age of 16 will be required to be supervised by the accompanying adult at all times, unless within the designated children’s zones.’ Any part of the variation application that changes the plan/layout at the premises to be of no effect until the work has been completed.
Any person who wishes to make a representation in relation to this application must give notice in writing of their representation by 18th June 2026 stating the grounds for making said representation to the: Licensing Team, Vale of White Horse District Council, Abbey House, Abbey Close, Abingdon, OX14 3JE or email to licensingunit@whitehorsedc.gov.uk The application may be viewed during normal office hours at the above council address, or on the Council’s website at www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk The Licensing Authority must receive representations by the date given above.
The Licensing Authority will have regard to any such representation in considering the application.
It is an offence, under section 158 of the Licensing Act 2003, to knowingly or recklessly make a false statement in or in connection with an application for premises licence and the maximum fine on summary conviction is unlimited.
