What is proposed?

SUNRISE RECORDS AND ENTERTAINMENT LIMITED trading as THE HMV SHOP of MERMAID HOUSE, PUDDLE DOCK, BLACKFRIARS, LONDON, EC4V 3DB have applied to Canterbury City Council as Licensing Authority for the grant of a licence in respect of the premises

THE HMV SHOP situated at 24 ST MARGARET’S STREET, CANTERBURY, KENT, CT1 2TH. The grant is to permit occasional events that may include performances of amplified music in the premises during normal trading hours; Monday to Saturday 09:00-17:30, Sunday 10:30-16:30. These events shall be occasional and the estimated maximum number of persons on the premises during any event shall be forty. 

 A register of licensing applications can be inspected at www.canterbury.gov.uk/licences-and-permissions/search-licensing-register or at Council Offices, 14 Rose Lane, Canterbury, Kent, CT1 2UR tel. 01227 862000 by appointment with the Licensing Team between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday.

 Any person wishing to submit representations to my/our application must give notice in writing to the address shown above, giving in detail the grounds of objection by 27/10/2025.

 The Council will not entertain representations where the writer requests that his identity remains anonymous.  Copies  of  all  representations  will  be  included  in  the  papers  presented  to  the Licensing Panel and will therefore pass into the public domain. Representations must relate to one of the four Licensing Objectives: the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, the prevention of public nuisance and the protection of children from harm. In the case of an application for a provisional statement, please note that representations will be restricted once a statement has been issued.
