What is proposed?

Notice is hereby given that Suzanne Folkard of 82 Joy Lane, Whitstable, Kent, CT5 4DD has applied to Canterbury City Council for the GRANT/VARIATION/PROVISIONAL STATEMENT (delete as appropriate) of Premises Licence for max 100 people from 1st November 2025.

Sale of alcohol for consumption on premises only from 10am to 10pm. Premises Licence to cover live music, showing some sporting events on TV, films, (10am to 22pm).

Recorded music to be played on our existing speakers from 8.30am to 10pm. Normal opening hours of the café are 8.30am to 3pm Monday to Saturday and 9.30am to 2.30pm on a Sunday.

Extended hours covered in the Premises Licence are to cover the time when we have after hours events such as clubs, social dining, art/craft events, choir nights and other after hours events for the premises. Chatterbox Cafe situated at 9 Castle Street, Canterbury, Kent, CT1 2QF.

Any person wishing to submit representations to my/our application must give notice in writing to the address shown above, giving in detail the grounds of objection by 13/10/2025.

The Council will not entertain representations where the writer requests that his identity remains anonymous. Copies of all representations will be included in the papers presented to the Licensing Panel and will therefore pass into the public domain. Representations must relate to one of the four Licensing Objectives: the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, the prevention of public nuisance and the protection of children from harm. In the case of an application for a provisional statement, please note that representations will be restricted once a statement has been issued.
