What is proposed?

Notice is hereby given that Mountain Pub Company Limited has applied in respect of The Principal, 8 Market Street, Kendal LA9 4TN for the grant of a variation of the premises licence under the Licensing Act 2003 to permit the following: To amend the non-standard timings for Opening Hours and Licensable Activities.

The new hours shall be as follows:

Opening Hours Christmas Day & Boxing Day 07:00-01:30 (currently 00:00). Bank Holiday Sundays; Easter Weekend Thur–Sun; St Patricks Day; Halloween 07:00–01:30 (not on licence).

Live Music; Recorded Music; Anything Similar Christmas Day & Boxing Day 12:00–01:00 (currently 00:00). Bank Holiday Sundays; Easter Weekend Thur–Sun; St Patricks Day; Halloween 12:00–01:00 (not on licence).

Late Night Refreshment Christmas Day & Boxing Day 23:00–01:00 (currently 00:00). Bank Holiday Sundays; Easter Weekend Thur–Sun; St Patricks Day; Halloween 23:00–01:00 (not on licence).

Sale of Alcohol Christmas Day & Boxing Day 10:00–01:00 (currently 00:00). Bank Holiday Sundays; Easter Weekend Thur–Sun; St Patricks Day; Halloween 10:00–01:00 (not on licence).

There are no proposed changes to the current New Year’s Eve Hours.

This application also amends a condition so it now reads as follows: “The CCTV will be maintained in proper working order in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Any images recorded by said CCTV will be retained in unedited form for 31 days.”

Any representations regarding the above-mentioned application must be received in writing by Kendal - Public Protection (Licensing), South Lakeland District Council, South Lakeland House, Lowther Street, Kendal, Cumbria, LA9 4UQ or email: licensing@westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk no later than 10 September 2025 stating the grounds for the representation. The register and the record of this application may be inspected at the Council office at the address given above between 10.00 - 16:00.
