Notice of application for a transfer licence to abstract (take) water
MWH Treatment Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from an excavation area (superficial deposits) between National Grid References (NGRs) SJ 95330 22514, SJ 95353 22550, SJ 95546 22384 and SJ 95523 22358 to transfer it to the River Sow at NGR SJ 95298 22502 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
• 465 cubic metres an hour • 11,100 cubic metres a day
• 2,920,000 cubic metres a year
Abstraction will take place all year.
Dewatering of the area is required to allow for construction of new facilities at Brancote Sewage Treatment Works. An environmental permit for the discharge of the abstracted water has also been applied for (application reference EPR/VB3342KJ/A001).
