TO: WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

We Brighton College do hereby give notice that it is our intention to apply to Brighton & Hove City Council for the variation of a premises licence or club premises certificate to use or permit the use of premises known as Brighton College, Eastern Road, BN2 0AL, Richard Cairns Building & Music School for the following licensable activities/ proposed variation which it is proposed will be carried on, on or from the premises: Sale of alcohol in 2 additional buildings, Richard Cairns Building and Music School. Supply of alcohol on both sites between 18:00–22:00 Monday–Saturday, Sunday 18:00–20:00 to serve indoor events such a pupil concerts and productions.

Both buildings are contained within the school grounds and the sale of alcohol will be prior to the start of events and during the interval. There will be no sales after the end of the performances. We therefore do not consider that there will be any adverse effect with regard to the current prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, teh prevention of public nuisance and the protection of children.

In the case of an application for a provisional statement, representations are restricted after the issue of a provisional statement

Any person who desires to make a representation to the variation, should send to EHL.licensing@brighton-hove.gov.uk or Regulatory Services Manager, Regulatory Services, Environmental Health and Licensing, Bartholomew House, Bartholomew Square, Brighton, BN1 1JP no later than 19th August 2025 a brief written statement of the grounds of his/her objection. The register and records of applications may be viewed at the above council office during normal office hours; summaries are available via www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/licensing.

It is an offence knowingly or recklessly to make a false statement in connection with an application, the maximum penalty for which a person is liable on summary conviction is an unlimited fine.
