What is proposed?

Statement of Licensing Policy 2025 – 2030 Consultation

The Licensing Act 2003 controls the sale of alcohol, regulated entertainment, and late-night refreshment. Swale Borough Council as the Licensing Authority is required to prepare and publish a statement of its licensing policy at least every five years. The existing policy will expire on 31st March 2026.

We are now seeking your views on the Draft Statement of Licensing Policy 2025 -2030.

The draft policy includes some minor amendments which are administrative changes to update statistics and remove out of date information. We would welcome your feedback on the draft policy. The regular review and adoption of The Statement of Licensing Policy is essential in ensuring that our policies and procedures are up to date and effective in ensuring a safe and regulated environment for users of licensed premises.  The policy can be viewed at https://swale.gov.uk/news-and-your-council/consultations or a hard copy can be provided upon request.

If you have any comments, please send them to licensing@swale.gov.uk, or in writing to Swale Borough Council, Swale House, East Street, Sittingbourne, Kent ME10 3HT by no later than 19 September 2025 to enable them to be considered in the decision making process.
