NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR THE
TRANSFER OF A LICENCE

TAKE NOTICE that we, Phoenix Hospitality Limited having its registered office at 19 Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast, BT4 3HT intend at the Magistrates' Court sitting at Laganside Courts, 45 Oxford Street, Belfast, BT1 3LL on 24th June 2025 2025 at 10.00am to apply for the transfer to us of a licence at present held by The Writers Cafes Ltd of c/o The Insolvency Service, Adelaide House, 39-49 Adelaide Street, Belfast, BT2 8FD for the premises at 19 Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast, BT4 3HG being premises of the following kind according to the Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 namely premises specified in Article:
5(1)(e) of the Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 namely premises not being of a kind mentioned in Article 5(1)(a) in which there is carried on the business of selling meals and refreshments, which are structurally adapted and used for the purpose of providing persons frequenting the premises with a customary main table meal at mid-day or in the evening or both.
A protection order authorising Phoenix Hospitality Limited of 19 Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast, BT4 3HT to carry on business under the licence was granted on 18th February 2025 by the Magistrates' Court sitting at Laganside Courts, 45 Oxford Street, Belfast, BT1 3LL for the period of six months from the date of the order.
The following body corporate owns the business carried on under the Licence-
Phoenix Hospitality Limited being a limited liability company of which the following persons are the directors-
Dominic Armstrong of 19 Upper Newtownards Road,
Belfast, BT4 3HT
And the following are the executive controllers - none
The owner of the premises is Ann Maunder and Jennifer Grey both of 19 Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast,
BT4 3HT
The licence will be deposited with the clerk of petty sessions before or at the hearing of the application.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that any person owning or residing or carrying on business in the vicinity of the licensed premises who intends to object to the transfer of the Licence must in accordance with paragraph 4 of Schedule 5 to the Licensing Order of 1996 serve notice of his intention to object upon the applicant and the Clerk of Petty Sessions not less than one week before the before the time of the Court sitting specified in this Notice.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that the permissible grounds of objection are such as are specified in Article 22 (6) of the said Order of 1996 namely:-
(a) The procedure relating to the Application set out in Schedule 5 of the said Order of 1996 has not been complied with
(b) That the Applicant is not a fit person to hold a Licence
(c) That the business carried on the premises has been discontinued
