What is proposed?
NOTICE OF APPLICATION TO VARY A PREMISES LICENCE UNDER THE GAMBLING ACT 2005
Notice if hereby given that: BALLY’S (NEWCASTLE) LIMITED of the following address: Colegrave House, 70 Berners Street, London W1T 3NL is applying under section 187 of the Gambling Act 2005 to vary a premises licence issued unde rthat Act.
The application relates to the following premises: Bally’s Casino Units 1, 12 and 13, The Gate, Newgate Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 5TG
The application to vary the licence as follows: Variation is sought for proposed plans to create a new external terrace on the first floor of the premises and involve removing a service bar, plus a section of the highlevel external wall on the building’s façade on Stowell Street to form the external terrace, with vertical powder-coated aluminium fins to be installed in the newly created opening.
Plans include a new canopy at the casino entrance on Stowell Street, featuring stainless-steel arms, a toughened safety glass lid, and stainless-steel drainage.
Internal plans include creation of two new reception areas and cloakrooms; one on the ground floor at the entrance on Stowell Street, the other on the first floor at the entrance via The Gate Shopping Centre. In addition, plans include the removal of 1 service bar which will be replaced by the external terrace, an extension of two of the current service bars plus introduction of a small service bar.
The application has been made to Newcastle City Council, Licensing Authority, Civic Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8QH

Any of the following persons may make representations in writing to the licensing authority about the application;
- A person who lives sufficiently close to the premises to be likely to be affected by the authorised activities
- A person who has business interests that might be affected by the authorised activities
- A person who represents someone in any of the above two categories
Any representations must be made by the following date: 30 May 2025
It is an offence under section 342 of the Gambling Act 2005 if a person, without reasonable excuse, gives to a licensing authority for a purpose connected with that Act information which is false or misleading.
