ENVIRONMENT AGENCY

Water Resources Act 1991

(as amended by the Water Act 2003)

Notice of application to vary a full licence to abstract (take) water

Severn Trent Water Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 03/28/38/0018 which authorises the abstraction of water from surface water at National Grid References SK 17 92, SK 17 89, SK 20 85, SK 14 89, SK 14 85 and SK 16 86. The application seeks to merge their existing licence number 3/28/37/0004 with licence number 03/28/38/0018 to better reflect the operations on site which are intrinsically linked. Licence number 3/28/37/0004 will be revoked if it is merged with licence number 03/28/38/0018.

The applicant is proposing to add an additional abstraction point at National Grid Reference SK 20 86 to enable improved export of water.

There are also some changes being proposed to update national grid references associated with the monitoring conditions and the measurement points on the existing licence as a result of upgrades to meters and gauges associated with the licence, which will enable better access to the data.

There are no increases in abstraction rates or proposed as part of the application.
