Western Road, Temporary Traffic Restrictions due to Improvement Works
What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER - WESTERN ROAD, BRIGHTON, NUMBER 2
NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into force will have the following effect:-
(a) The temporary prohibition of eastbound traffic on Western Road, Brighton, between its junction with Montpelier Road and North Street.
(b) The temporary introduction of no waiting at any time and no loading/unloading on the northern side of Upper North Street between property numbers 87 and 90.
(c) The temporary introduction of no waiting at any time and no loading/unloading on the northern side of Upper North Street between property numbers 102 and 105.
(d) The temporary introduction of no waiting at any time and no loading/unloading on the northern side of Upper North Street at property number 78.
(e) The temporary introduction of no waiting at any time and no loading/unloading on the northern side of Montpelier Terrace from the junction with Montpelier Road to property number 3.
(f) The temporary exemption of public service vehicles from the weight restriction on Upper North Street and Montpelier Terrace.
(g) The temporary introduction of no waiting at any time and no loading/unloading at any time on the eastern side of Spring Street between Hampton Street and Western Road.
(h) The temporary introduction of Disabled Badge Holders Parking Places on the west side of Spring Street from the junction of Hampton Street southwards for a distance of 11 metres.
(i) The temporary extension of the bus stop on Montpelier Road, at property numbers 40-41.
(j) To enable the extension of the bus stop it is necessary to temporarily suspend one parking place at property number 41.
(k) To enable the extension of the bus stop it is necessary to temporarily relocate the disabled parking bay from outside property number 40 to outside property number 47.
The Order is necessary to allow works for the Western Road improvement scheme.
Pedestrian access will be maintained and the alternative route for vehicles will be as directed.
The alternative routes available are via MontpelierRoad/Montpelier Terrace/Upper North Street/Regent Hill; or via Montpelier Road/DenmarkTerrace/Vernon Terrace/Dyke Road.
This Order comes into force on 14 March 2023 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed.
