What is happening?

CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (FORTH BANKS)

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 26 March 2026 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicular traffic to proceed on Forth Banks and The Close, from the exit of the Stephenson's Quarter Multi Storey Car Park and extending eastwards for 210 metres.

2. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.

3. The order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.

4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the said works.

5. The Order will come into operation on 20 April 2026 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 12 July 2026 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
