What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14
CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(LITTLE BARFORD ROAD, TEMPSFORD)
(TEMPORARY 40MPH SPEED LIMIT) &
(TEMPORARY REVOCATION OF WEIGHT LIMIT) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from exceeding a 40mph speed limit and temporarily suspends the 7.5 tonne weight limit along the length of Little Barford Road, Tempsford which extends from 300m south of Glebe Farm to the existing nosing of the A1 south bound Wyboston exit slip road.
This temporary speed limit and weight limit suspension is required to allow this road to be safely used as part of a diversion and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
It is expected that the 40mph speed limit and weight limit suspension will be in operation from 23 March until 23 September 2027.
The proposed Order will come into operation on 23 March 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed whichever is the earlier. For further information please contact Robert Hawkins – Skanska - 07970847670.
CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(HIGH ROAD, BROOM)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of High Road, Broom from High Street to outside number 11.
This temporary closure is required to enable ditch clearance works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 2 to 10 March between the hours of 0800-1800. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure will be via Gypsy Lane, Southill Rd, High Street and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 2 March 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

(GIRTFORD UNDERPASS, SANDY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the full length of Girtford Underpass, Sandy.
This temporary closure is required to enable vegetation and drainage works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 2 to 7 March 2026 between the hours of 2100-0500hrs. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via Entry slip Road diversion - for entry slip road southbound, traffic will be directed onto sunderland road, take the 3rd exit at the roundabout on to the girtford underpass, at the roundabout take the first exit on to the Georgetown road, merge on the a1 northbound, at tempsford take the exit slip road, turn right on at roundabout, at the roundabout take the 2nd exit on the a1 southbound, diversion ends.

Diversion - traffic will be directed to continue on the A1 until sandy roundabout, at the sandy roundabout take the 4th exit on to A1 northbound, diversion ends at Georgetown (sandy)
The Order will come into operation on 2 March 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the full full length of Little Barford Road, Tempsford.
This temporary closure is required to safely facilitate A428 dual carriageway alignment works and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the first planned closure for works will take place from 2000hrs on 6 March to 0600hrs 9 March 2026. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via A1, A428, Little Barford Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 6 March 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.
