What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING

RESTRICTIONS IN OAKWOOD, BERKHAMSTED)

ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Oakwood, Berkhamsted from a point 72m south west of its westernmost junction with Shootersway clockwise for a distance of approximately 367m (“the Road”), except for access. There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 9 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HIGH STREET, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of High Street, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with B487 Queensway north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Piccotts End, a distance of approximately 421m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via B487 Queensway, A4146 Leighton Buzzard Road, A4147 Link Road and Piccotts End. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 7 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A4146

LEIGHTON BUZZARD ROAD, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A4146 Leighton Buzzard Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with the A414 St Albans Road/ Lawn Lane roundabout north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with the Combe Street roundabout, a distance of approximately 844m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A414 St Albans Road, A4147 (Maylands Avenue/Swallowdale Lane), B487 Queensway and A4146 Leighton Buzzard Way. The Order is needed because the decommisioning of a tower is proposed to be executed near the Road. If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 8 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN MARKYATE) ORDER NO.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

1.  that length of Pickford Road/Cheverells Green/Pickford Road, Markyate from its junction with Valley Lane northwards, north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with High Street, a distance of approximately 2411m.

An alternative route will be via Markyate Street Lane, Gaddesden Row, Gaddesden Lane, Hemel Hempstead Road,

B487 Redbourn Bypass, A5183 (Redbourn Bypass/Dunstable Road), A5 (unnamed road), A5183 (London Road/Dunstable Road), Hicks Road and High Street.

2.    that length of Sebright Road, Markyate from its junction with Pickford Road north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 149m. There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

3.    that length of Hicks Road, Markyate from its junction with High Street north eastwards to its junction with A5183 Dunstable Road, a distance of approximately 191m. An alternative route will be via High Street, London Road and A5183 Dunstable Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 9 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

1.    that length of High Street, Markyate from its junction with Hicks Road north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with A5183 Dunstable Road, a distance of approximately 521m.

An alternative route will be via Hicks Road and A5183 Dunstable Road.

2.     that length of Cavendish Road, Markyate from its junction with High Street south westwards for a distance of approximately 5m.

An alternative route will be via High Street, Buckwood Road, Cowper Rise, Cowper Road and Cavendish Road.

3.    that length of Roman Way, Markyate from its junction with High Street north eastwards for a distance of approximately 5m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

4.    that length of Wesley Road, Markyate from its junction with High Street south westwards for a distance of approximately 5m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

5.    that length of Albert Street, Markyate from its junction with High Street south westwards for a distance of approximately 5m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

6.    that length of Buckwood Road, Markyate from its junction with High Street south westwards and westwards to its junction with Parkfield, a distance of approximately 233m. An alternative route will be via High Street, Hicks Road, A5183 (Dunstable Road/Watling Street), B4540 Lynch Hill, Clay Hall Road and Buckwood Road.

7.    that length of Pickford Road, Markyate from its junction with High Street south eastwards to its junction with Cleveland Road, a distance of approximately 35m. An alternative route will be via High Street, Hicks Road,

A5183 (Dunstable Road/Watling Street), B4540 Lynch Hill,

Clay Hall Road, Byslips Road, Clements End Road, Gaddesden Row, Markyate Street, Pickford Road, Cheverells Green and Pickford Road.

8.  that length of Cleveland Road, Markyate from its junction with Pickford Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 45m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

9.  that length of Hicks Road, Markyate from its junction with High Street north eastwards to its junction with A5183 Dunstable Road, a distance of approximately 175m. An alternative route will be via High Street, London Road and A5183 Dunstable Road or via A5183 Dunstable Road and High Street.

10.  that length of William Street, Markyate from its junction with High Street south westwards for a distance of approximately 5m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

11.   that length of King Street, Markyate from its junction with High Street south westwards for a distance of approximately 5m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

12.  that length of High Street, Markyate from its junction with Hicks Road south eastwards to its junction with The Close, a distance of approximately 263m. An alternative route will be via Hicks Road, A5183 Dunstable Road and London Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads. The Order has been made and shall come into force on 25 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CHAPEL STREET, BERKHAMSTED) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using that length of Chapel Street, Berkhamsted from its junction with Castle Street south eastwards to its junction with Ravens Lane, a distance of approximately 194m (“the Road”). An alternative route will be via Castle Street, A4251 High Street and Ravens Lane.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 23 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF OLD WATLING STREET, FLAMSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Old Watling Street, Flamstead from a point 112m south east of its junction with Chad Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 15m (“the Road”). An alternative route will be via Old Watling Street, Chad

Lane, Coles Lane, Watery Lane and A5183 London Road. The Order is needed because water main repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. The Order has been made and shall come into force on 24 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. RESTRICTIONS IN THE A41 NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD

LEADING ONTO THE B4635 ICKNIELD WAY ROUNDABOUT, TRING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using the

A41 northbound slip road leading onto the B4635 Icknield Way roundabout, Tring from its junction with the northbound carriageway of A41 Tring Bypass north westwards to its junction with the B4635 Icknield Way roundabout, a distance of approximately 457m (“the Road”), except for access. An alternative route will be via A41 (unnamed road), the A41 (unnamed road/Aston Clinton Road roundabout), A41 (unnamed road) and B4635 Icknield Way. ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 23 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months.  (ONE WAY TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to continue in force indefinitely the provisions of the experimental orders made on 22 August 2024 and which came into effect on 23 September 2024 that introduced waiting and a one-way restrictions in parts of Winifred Road and Storey Street, Hemel Hempstead as specified in the Schedules to this Notice. The Orders will come into effect on Thursday 19 February 2026.

SCHEDULE 1: No waiting at any time – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plan – parts of Winifred Road, the north-western end near the junction with Featherbed Lane. SCHEDULE 2: One-way traffic south-east and north-east bound – those sections of roads listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plan – Winifred Road and Storey Street.
