What is happening?
PROPOSED INTRODUCTION OF ‘RED ROUTE’ RESTRICTIONS, PROPOSED BUS LANE IN CHURCH STREET, ENFIELD EN2 AND PROPOSED CHANGES TO WAITING AND LOADING RESTRICTIONS AND PARKING PLACES ON SARNESFIELD ROAD EN2 AND CHURCH STREET EN2

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Enfield (the Council) have made the Enfield (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Amendment No. 267) Order 2025, The Enfield (Bus Lanes) (Amendment No. 1) Order 2025, The Enfield (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) (No. 5) Traffic Order 2025, The Enfield (Free Parking Places) (Solo Motorcycle) (Amendment No. 1) Order 2025, & The Enfield (Red Routes) Traffic Order 2025 under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The general effect of the Orders, which will come into force on 30 November 2025, will be to:
a) introduce Red Route controls on which stopping of vehicles will be prohibited at any time (‘double-red lines’), in Church Street EN2;
b) remove the existing restrictions in the lengths of roads in which the Red Route controls will apply;
c) provide areas within the Red Route where the stopping of vehicles is prohibited at any time except for loading and unloading during certain periods with a maximum stay of 20 minutes, in Church Street;
d) provide areas within the Red Route where the stopping of vehicles is prohibited at any time except for solo motorcycles, in Church Street;
e) provide areas within the Red Route where the stopping of vehicles is prohibited at any time except for disabled badge holders, with a maximum stay time of 3 hours and no return within 1 hour, either at any time or during certain periods in Church Street;
f) provide areas within the Red Route where the stopping of vehicles is prohibited at any time except for vehicles that are permitted to park during certain time periods with a maximum stay time of 20 minutes and no return within 1 hour, in Church Street;
g) introduce a new eastbound bus lane in Church Street, on the north side, between its junctions with Saddlers Square and boundary of 3 and 4–5 Market Chambers, Church Street permitting buses, taxis, solo motorcycles and pedal cycles;
h) the existing disabled parking place in Sarnesfield Road, Enfield, on the west side, moving northbound restores 13.2 metres of disabled parking place northwards by 2.1 metres and introduce 3 hours maximum stay and no return within 1 hour and;
i) introduce lengths of no waiting or loading at any time restrictions (to be indicated by double yellow lines and double kerb marks) in Sarnesfield Road, on the west side, to accommodate the disabled parking place split described in paragraph (h) above.
3. A copy of the notice, made Orders, plans and the Council’s statement of reasons for making the Order can be inspected at the Town Library, 66 Church Street, Enfield, EN2 6AX, Monday to Fridays 9am – 5pm inclusive. 5. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
