NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION
WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

The Somerset Council
(No. 3) Modification Order, 2025
Parish of Merriott

On 31 October 2025 Somerset Council confirmed the above Order made under Section 53(2)(b) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 with modifications. The effect of the Order is to modify the definitive map and statement for the area by: Upgrading to a Restricted Byway that part of Footpath CH 19/4 in the Parish of Merriott which starts from Sandy Hole (point A on the order plan H72_2022_2) and runs in a generally west south westerly direction for approximately 720 metres to the county road at OS grid ref ST 43483 12780 (point D on the order plan) is be upgraded to a Restricted Byway. The width is as shown (shaded grey) on the Order plan.

A copy of the confirmed order and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge by appointment (Tel: 01823 355 644) at Somerset Council, County Hall, The Crescent, Taunton, TA1 4DY from 9.00am until 3.00pm Monday to Friday.

Copies can also be obtained there free of charge or by contacting rightsofway@somerset.gov.uk. The Order came into force on 31 October 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 of the Act, within 6 weeks from 13 November 2025, make an application to the High Court.
