NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981
The Somerset Council
(No. 5) Modification Order, 2018 Parish of Pilton
On 28 August 2025 The Secretary of State confirmed the above Order made under Section 53(2)(b) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 with modifications. The effect of the Order is to modify the definitive map and statement for the area by: Adding a bridleway in the Parish of Pilton starting from the southern end of bridleway WS 7/54 (point A on the order plan) and running in a generally south easterly direction for approximately 110 metres to point B and then in a generally east north easterly direction along Westholme Lane for approximately 1500 metres to Lower Westholme Road at point C. Width: travelling from the western end, the average width is: 3.1 meters for the first 980 metres, 4.1 meters for the next 310 meters and 4 meters for the remaining 320 meters. A copy of the confirmed order and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge by appointment (Tel: 01823 355 644) at Somerset Council, County Hall, The Crescent, Taunton, TA1 4DY from 9.00am until 3.00pm Monday to Friday. Copies can also be obtained there free of charge or by contacting rightsofway@somerset.gov.uk. The Order came into force on 28 August 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 of the Act, within 6 weeks from 13 November 2025, make an application to the High Court.
