What is happening?
OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(LONGCOT, SHRIVENHAM & WATCHFIELD) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that on 14 April 2025 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order which comes into force on 21 April introduces a 20mph speed limit throughout Watchfield replacing the majority of the previous 30mph speed limit as follows:
Folly Crescent – between the junctions with Majors Road and Axis Road;
High Street – from a point 20 metres north of Faringdon Road / Northford Hill, northwards for its entire length;
Majors Road – from its junction with High Street, eastwards for 30 metres,
On the following roads for their entire lengths:
Barrington Road, Chapel Hill, Ironside Drive, Maiden’s Close, Meadow Road, Oak Road, Roman Walk, Saxon Orchard, Shute Avenue, and Squires Road.
30mph speed limits remain on Majors Road, and Faringdon Road (either side of the Majors Road roundabout) with Officers having taken the current road environment & traffic usage into account.
These proposals do not include those roads designated as non-highway, private, or under Ministry of Defence (MoD) jurisdiction/management.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Longcot, Shrivenham & Watchfield) (Speed Limits) Order 2023 is revoked/replaced.

(APPLETON PARISH) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that on 14 April 2025 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order, which comes into force on 21 April introduces a 20mph speed limit within Appleton (including Eaton), replacing the majority of the 30mph speed limit in the process, leading out to the following points:
Netherton Road – a point 265 metres southwest of its junction with Oaksmere.
Eaton Road – a point 55 metres north of its junction with Englands Lane,
Oaksmere – a point 49 metres south of its junction with Fettiplace Close.
Additionally, a new 20mph limit is introduced in Eaton as follows:
Bablock Hythe Road - from a point 144 metres northwest of its junction with Eaton Road, westwards for a distance of 360 metres.
Lengths of 30mph speed limit are retained as ‘buffer’ limits on Netherton Road & Eaton Road at the northern & southern approaches to the village, with Officers having taken the current road environment & traffic usage into account.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Restricted Roads) (Appleton Parish) Order 2000 is revoked/replaced.

(WOODEATON PARISH) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that on 14 April 2025 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order, which comes into force on 21 April introduces a 20mph speed limit within Woodeaton nr. Oxford, replacing the previous 30mph speed limit in its entirety as follows:
The unnamed road running through Woodeaton – from a point 185 metres northeast of the junction to Nourse Close, southwards for a distance of 605 metres.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Restricted Roads) (Woodeaton Parish) Order 1999 is revoked/replaced.

(FERNHAM PARISH) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that on 14 April 2025 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order, which comes into force on 21 April introduces a 20mph speed limit throughout Fernham, replacing the 30mph speed limit in its entirety in the process, leading out to the following points:
B4508 High Street/Hobbs Hill – a point 85 metres east of its junction with The Green,
B4508 Longcot Road – a point 55 metres southwest of its junction with Silver Street,
Unnamed road to Faringdon – a point 65 metres north of its junction with the B4508 Longcot Road.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Restricted Roads) (Fernham Parish) Order 2000 is revoked/replaced.

(BUSCOT PARISH) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that on 14 April 2025 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order, which comes into force on 21 April introduces a 20mph speed limit in Buscot, replacing the 60mph National speed limit on the unnamed road leading to Buscot Lock, from its junction with the A417 Lechlade Road for its entire length.
Additionally, new 30mph speed limits are introduced in place of the 60mph National speed limit on the following roads in Buscot Wick:
The unnamed road running through Buscot Wick – from a point 150 metres northwest of its junction with the unnamed access road to Buscot Wick Farm, south-eastwards for a distance of 615 metres,
The unnamed access road to Buscot Wick Farm – from its junction with the unnamed road through Buscot Wick, northwards for a distance of 115 metres.
The Oxfordshire County Council (A417 Buscot) (40 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2011 is revoked/replaced.
