What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (LONGHURST ROAD, MELLOR) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which is to introduce a Temporary Prohibition Of Driving at Longhurst Road, Mellor from approx. 255m east of the junction of Knowle Road to the junction of Public Right of Way 108 Marple. Whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. This Order is necessary to allow work for gas mains replacement work. It is anticipated that the maximum duration of the work will be four weeks. An alternative route can be found via: Longhurst Lane, Town Street, Brabyns Brow, Arkwright Road, Strines Road, Lower Hague, Hague Bar Road, Market Street, Spring Bank Road, Mellor Road, Moor End Road, and vice versa. Pedestrian access will be maintained and there will be an exemption for emergency vehicles and access. This Order will come into operation on the 2nd of January 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
